Mesa is a jacquard woven double weave. The design was inspired by historical darning samplers which highlighted the skill of women who were able to add beauty through repair. The frayed edge effect was meant to reference the thready stitches that make up these carefully executed patches. Through considered striping of the warp and weft, I was able to display the capabilites offered by double weave while again connecting back to the recreation of the warp and weft, which is ultimately the goal of darning wovens.
